Genealogy Assistant for 23andMe
Features for 23andMe in Genealogy Assistant include:
Add your 23andMe DNA matches to colour-coded groups, just like on other platforms. View and edit groups from the Add/Manage Groups button above your DNA matches list.
View estimated cM counts for your matches, and open any amount in DNA Painter’s Shared cM Tool with a single click.
Highlight DNA matches over a set cM threshold to easily identify high-value matches at a glance.
Helpful page navigation is added to the top of your DNA matches and shared matches lists, with support for keyboard shortcuts.
Export your data for personal projects, pushing your research to the limits of what’s possible in genealogy today.
And so much more!
Surname Comparison Tool for Ancestry
A new feature in Genealogy Assistant for Ancestry is our Surname Comparison Tool. This tool allows you to add all surnames from a DNA match’s linked tree, or from the “List of all people” page on any tree, with a single click.
Once added, you can compare which surnames are shared by multiple people, including support for surname variants. You can also export all of the surnames you’ve captured to a CSV file for offline research.
The goal of this tool is to eliminate friction in building surname lists from, for example, the shared matches of a match of interest. It allows you to identify shared surnames and focus your search as fast as possible.
We would love to hear how this tool works for you and how it could work better. Let us know on our website, or email us at hello@genea.ca with your feedback. As always, it’s greatly appreciated.
Genealogy Blurring Tool for 23andMe
We’ve also updated Genealogy Blurring Tool with support for 23andMe, including initial replacement so you can still see which match is which while protecting their privacy.
Whether you’re hosting an online presentation, collaborating with fellow researchers, or posting screenshots online, Genealogy Blurring Tool works instantly on every page you load to blur sensitive personal information.
Genealogy Blurring Tool is completely free, no sign-up required. There should be as few barriers as possible for genetic genealogists to share their research and ideas, it helps our space grow.
